President Donald Trump says he asked FIFA chief, Gianni Infantino, to review a red-card given to USA striker, Folarin Balogun, as he did not think the foul the referee called 'horrible', was unfair.
Meanwhile, European soccer body, UEFA, has lashed out at FIFA's decision to suspend Balogun's World Cup ban, saying it had crossed a red line after Trump personally intervened in the case.
There has been widespread criticism of the move, placing FIFA's disciplinary process under the spotlight.
The Belgian Football Association has written to FIFA to appeal the matter.
