So-called informant Tumelo Nku has, after consulting with someone he describes as his spiritual leader, offered his explanation for carrying R60 000 in hard cold cash at the July 2021 Aeroton drug bust.
Nku says it was meant to pay a Transnet employee in Durban for information, but suspicions suggest it could have allegedly been payment to the officers for retrieving the drugs.
Meanwhile, private investigator Paul O'Sullivan took the stand next and alleged that the infiltration of organised crime in the criminal justice system is nothing new, not even to KwaZulu-Natal top cop Lt-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
