President Cyril Ramaphosa has approached the Western Cape High Court seeking an urgent interdict to halt the commencement of an impeachment inquiry against him.
Ramaphosa filed papers on the 12th of June, asking the court to bar National Assembly Thoko Didiza and Impeachment Committee Chairperson Makashule Gana from proceeding with the inquiry, pending the outcome of his review application challenging the Independent Panel report.
Parliament confirmed that Speaker Didiza has resolved to file a notice to abide by an explanatory affidavit, alongside the impeachment committee's opposition papers.
