Following torential rains in the Eastern Cape last week, the Gamtoos River burst its banks, submerging, damaging and sweeping away numerous houses in the Gamtoos Valley.
But clear skies and dry weather on Saturday has allowed Disaster Management officials to continue rescue operations for people still trapped by the flooded waters.
So far, 49 people have been rescued in the Gamtoos Valley, Patensie and Gamtoos Mouth areas.
