I adviced my parents 20 years ago(back then i was in my late teens and they are in their 60s)that they should start saving money and start planning their retirement. They only managed to save a substancial amount of money but fail to plan for any consistant passive income

The main point here is the value (morality, ideal) and the decisions taken (the goal, the problem, the solutions). Do the parents need it. How frugal both the parents and the children (no amount of money will be enough if one is not frugal). What's the financial situations of both (parents and the children). What's the household goals. What does it mean to be filial. Does one value filial piety. Those are the questions that one must think through carefully ... This is not just a matter which numbers whether 500, 1500, or 10.000 are enough. If there is no value and reasoning behind it, then it is just mindless act.

Classic example of the sandwiched generation. The father is also damn shameless. Your own daughter is already struggling with two kids as a single parent but you are still thick-skinned in accepting $1500 a month.

Too bad.
That woman, obviously divorced or widowed with 2 kids, cannot increase her own pay of close to 100% of what she is currently earning at $7000.
If not she should be able to get a GUARANTEED amount of $12,000 from October 2026 onwards.
In any case, who did she voted for anyway?🤭
