The disciplinary hearing of suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya that was meant to start on Monday was postponed to October 12 to allow Sibiya time to consult with his legal representatives.
The senior police officer is facing allegations of misconduct and corruption arising from evidence heard during the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
Sibiya is currently in custody on separate criminal charges, while his legal team is seeking to have the disciplinary proceedings postponed, arguing that he is not in a position to properly prepare and participate in the hearing.
The hearing will take place against the backdrop of two significant legal processes, the internal SAPS disciplinary case and the criminal case before the Randburg Magistrates' Court.
