He argued that while he wants the war to end, Congress forcing an immediate pullout would allow Iran to control the Strait of Hormuz and potentially acquire nuclear weapons. He stated that a premature end would cause energy prices to stay permanently high and hold the world hostage, concluding that the conflict must instead be brought to a "successful" conclusion by President Trump negotiating a deal.
