Step Inside Singapore Airlines A380 First Class Suites: Singapore to Shanghai

No jargon, no drama, no ads. Just the complete Singapore Airlines First Class experience on SQ830 from Singapore Changi Airport to Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

In this video, I’m taking you through the entire journey bit by bit, from Singapore Airlines’ exclusive The Private Room, its fine dining and incredible Champagne and wine cellar, to the private sleeping room and shower facilities. Then we board the Airbus A380 to explore the full First Class cabin, my private Suite 1F, the seat and bed setup, onboard dining, amenities, service, and everything that makes this one of the most exclusive First Class experiences in commercial aviation.

Despite flying Singapore Airlines several times, this was my first time departing from Singapore in First Class, which finally gave me the opportunity to properly experience The Private Room at Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3. I had several hours before SQ830, and there was plenty to explore. The Private Room is Singapore Airlines’ most exclusive lounge, reserved for eligible Suites and First Class passengers, with restaurant dining, premium wines and Champagne, private shower suites, quiet spaces, and dedicated sleeping rooms.

Dining was one of the highlights. I started with the famous Lobster Laksa, followed by dim sum and a mango dessert, while exploring an exceptional cellar that included Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs and Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 2005. After dinner, I headed to one of the spacious private shower suites before checking into a dedicated sleeping room for a few hours of rest. Having a quiet private space to properly switch off completely changes a long airport wait and made The Private Room one of my favorite First Class lounge experiences.

Then it was time to board Singapore Airlines flight SQ830 from Singapore Changi Airport to Shanghai Pudong International Airport. The upper deck of this Airbus A380 has just 6 First Class Suites, and I settled into Suite 1F. Each Suite combines a separate Poltrona Frau leather armchair with a dedicated bed, sliding privacy door, personal wardrobe, and a massive 32 inch HD entertainment screen. Certain neighboring Suites can even be combined to create Singapore Airlines’ famous Double Suite.

Once onboard, the Singapore Airlines service began almost immediately with Champagne while the crew introduced the Suite and helped arrange everything for the flight. When it was time to sleep, the real magic of this First Class product became obvious. Instead of simply reclining the seat until it becomes a bed, the A380 Suite has an entirely separate bed that the crew prepares with a mattress, fresh Lalique linens, plush pillows, and Lalique bedding. With the privacy door closed and the bed prepared beside the leather armchair, this feels remarkably close to having your own private bedroom in the sky.

After a few hours of sleep, I woke up for breakfast inside the Suite, with fresh fruit, warm pastries, eggs with caviar, juice, and Singapore Airlines’ Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee before our arrival at Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

This was my 3rd time flying Singapore Airlines A380 First Class Suites, and between The Private Room, the enormous Suite, separate bed and seat, excellent dining, and consistently warm Singapore Airlines hospitality, it remains one of my favorite First Class experiences in the world.
