Trump never should have tried to do so much on foreign policy. It makes him look like a baffoon! He was doing pretty well domestically. Then he had a bit of success in venezuela and then just made mistakes.

Während Moskau weiterhin gezielt Energieinfrastruktur in Kiew bombardiert und Provokationen gegen NATO-Staaten fährt, bleibt Kiews Gegenschlag auf die Sysran-Raffinerie die einzig logische Antwort zur Schwächung der russischen Kriegsmaschinerie. Wer der Ukraine das Recht auf Zerstörung dieser Logistik absprechen will, belohnt einen Aggressor, der jede Absprache binnen Stunden bricht. Wie soll eine Deeskalation gelingen, wenn man sich auf Moskaus Zusagen verlässt, anstatt völkerrechtswidrige Angriffe mit entschlossener Abschreckung zu beantworten?
I think we need to be careful how we respond to Putin‘s provocations so as not to play into his strategic plan. Putin’s provocations are designed to provoke Europe to respond in kind, then, use this to justify a large mobilization which will only be used against Ukraine, not Europe. <br><br>The appropriate European response here is to act strategically to protect the Baltic and Moldovan borders (perhaps establishing a buffer zone) and scale up manufacturing to significantly surpass the volume of armament that Russia is generating.<br><br>However, considering the strategic paralysis of the EU as a unit and its inability to do the monumentally obvious to protect the continent, Putin could indeed succeed in his strategic plan of conquering Donbas in the short term and of convincing Ukrainians that the west has betrayed them in the long term. <br><br>Nevertheless, even without Europe’s strategic leadership and America’s exit from the conflict, we do have the usual suspects in Europe and outside which stand for what is right and will probably be enough to help Ukraine prevail. The message that needs to be conveyed by politicians and influencers alike is that if Russia prevails in this conflict, the “West” is doomed in the long-term. So maybe not us or our children, but our children’s children would end up living in a very different world that we envisioned.
European countries don't seem to have a red line - unlike Turkey or the US. BTW, US imports little if any diesel from Russia. Big importers are Brazil and Turkey. This reporter is either lazy, or a mouthpiece...maybe both.
