खेती अब सिर्फ फसल उगाने तक सीमित नहीं रह गई है। पंजाब में किसान जैविक खेती के साथ अपनी उपज से गुड़, हल्दी और दूसरे प्राकृतिक उत्पाद तैयार कर उन्हें सीधे बाजार तक पहुंचा रहे हैं। यानी किसान अब सिर्फ फसल उगाने वाले नहीं, बल्कि अपना कारोबार खड़ा करने की दिशा में भी आगे बढ़ रहे हैं। दूसरी तरफ लुधियाना में वर्मी-कम्पोस्ट, जैविक उर्वरक और जैविक कीटनाशक तैयार किए जा रहे हैं। धान के बचे अवशेषों से Biochar बनाने पर भी काम हो रहा है, जिससे मिट्टी की सेहत और पानी रोकने की क्षमता बेहतर करने में मदद मिल सकती है। यानी खेती में नई सोच के साथ नए अवसर भी पैदा हो रहे हैं।
