Hundreds of inmates receive medical care at Nairobi Remand Prison

Over 800 inmates at the Nairobi Remand and Allocation Maximum Security prison have benefited from a free medical services camp organized by the Dawoodi Bohra community in Kenya. The medical outreach saw the inmates receive healthcare services that included specialized clinics in general medicine, dermatology, optical and dental services. Correctional Services Principal Secretary Dr. Salome Beacco, who presided over the exercise says it was part of ongoing systemic reforms within the correctional system, including the registration of 60 percent of inmates with the Social Health Authority todate. A separate medical camp was organised by the Bohra Dawoodi community in Jomvu Mombasa County where residents received a range of services, including medical consultations, health screenings, nutrition advice, dental care, eye examinations and free medication.
